About Us

Founded in 2017, the American Media Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization built on a straightforward but urgent conviction: democracy depends on an informed public, and an informed public depends on trustworthy journalism. Public confidence in the mainstream media has reached historic lows while misinformation spreads unchecked across platforms. This isn’t just a media problem, it is a civic crisis.

Our Mission

To combat misinformation, expose media deception, promote media literacy, and empower citizens with accurate information— training the next generation of ethical, independent journalists who understand journalism as a moral vocation, not merely a profession.

Our Vision

An American media environment grounded in truth, transparency, and ethical journalism. One where misinformation is challenged, citizens can discern fact from falsehood, and independent media leaders serve the public interest rather than partisan or commercial agendas.

We develop and distribute media literacy programs with a particular focus on Gen Z, equipping young Americans to identify bias, evaluate sources, and resist manipulation in an age of information overload.

We produce rigorous content that identifies and corrects misinformation, exposes bias and deception in media coverage, and advocates for higher standards of journalistic integrity across the industry.

We identify, mentor, and support emerging journalists committed to truth and independence, building a pipeline of media leaders who will hold institutions accountable and restore public trust in the press.

The fight for truth in media depends on people who refuse to stay silent.

AMC is a nonprofit funded by people who believe a well-informed citizenry is essential to a free society. Your support makes our work possible.

We hold fast to principles that guide everything we do. Journalism is a public trust, and we believe that when journalists treat truth as a moral obligation and citizens are equipped to hold the media accountable, democracy is strengthened.

  • Truth matters. Journalism that distorts, misleads, or serves partisan interests causes real harm to democracy and civil life.

  • Media literacy is a civic responsibility. Citizens who cannot evaluate sources or recognize manipulation are vulnerable to those who would exploit their trust.

  • Independent journalism matters. A press captured by partisan or commercial interests cannot serve the public, it serves itself.

  • The next generation can lead the way. By investing in principled journalists now, we help ensure that the future of American media is built on integrity, not ideology.
